Introducing Global Dialogue’s Romanian Team

Raisa-Gabriela Zamfirescu is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Bucharest. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work (University of Bucharest) and two master’s degrees, one in Information Management in Countering Terrorism (“Mihai Viteazul” National Intelligence Academy, Romania) and one in Information Analysis and Security Studies (University of Bucharest and Romanian Intelligence Service joint program). She has multiple domains of interest, from security to gender studies and cluster analysis, with a thesis focused on these particular subjects in television, especially in American TV programs. Currently, she teaches seminars in Statistics and Political Sociology.
Diana-Alexandra Dumitrescu is a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Bucharest. She has a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work (University of Bucharest) and two master’s degrees, one in Global Media and Communication (University of Warwick, UK) and one in Information Analysis and Security Studies (University of Bucharest and Romanian Intelligence Service joint program). Currently, she is an Assistant Project Manager for the Social Sciences Division within the Research Institute of the University of Bucharest (ICUB) and teaches seminars in Research Methodology.
Iulian Gabor is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Bucharest. He is interested in the sharing economy, more precisely in fields like car sharing, shared mobility, online ridesharing communities, sustainability, and hitchhiking. As an ethnographer, his thesis is focused on the behavior of the users. He is also working at an environmental NGO and optimistically thinks that “our knowledge combined with research, creativity, and technology could resolve many of our future problems.”
Rodica Liseanu is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Bucharest. She has an MA in Security Studies from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work and an MA in Political Science from the University of Bucharest and the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS), Paris. Her research interests focus on the Sociology of Education. She is currently studying school dropouts in Romania with a particular focus on causes, effects, and social actors of the invisible school dropout.
Mădălina Manea has a BA in Politics from Nottingham Trent University, UK, and an MA in Advanced Sociological Research from the University of Bucharest. Since the beginning of her PhD studies, she has worked as a research assistant in two international projects, YMOBILITY and TEMPER, being part of the team of researchers at the Centre for Migration Studies at the University of Bucharest.
Bianca Mihăilă is an MA student at the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, University of Bucharest. Her research interests are focused on transnational co-authorship networks. In this area she analyzes the impact of transnationalism on the scientific productivity of a researcher. In her work, she uses social and personal network analysis. She is also currently the Managing Editor of the Walter DeGruyter International Review of Social Research.
Andreea Moldoveanu is currently a PhD candidate in Sociology at the University of Bucharest. She has an MA from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work. Her main research focuses are linked to public and central administration in the Research-Development-Innovation sector. She has multiple domains of interest starting from public administration to ageism in graphic novels and comics. She is currently teaching seminars on the Methodology of Social Research.
Oana-Elena Negrea is currently a PhD candidate in the field of Sociology. She has a BA and an MA from the University of Bucharest. Her main research topics revolve around social inequalities and gender studies, with a focus on economic gender inequalities and gendered sectoral segregation in the Romanian labor market. She is also a teaching assistant for a course on Methods and Techniques of Sociological Research.
Mioara Paraschiv graduated in Sociology and Psychology. She is currently a PhD student in Sociology at the University of Bucharest. Her doctoral thesis focuses on a group program designed for sex offenders who are in detention or enrolled in probation services. She also currently works as a probation counselor.
